Google EAT, here EAT is an acronym which stands for Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness(E-A-T). This concept is an important factor in how Google ranks a specific page or a website. And in 2022 another E was added to this concept which means Experience. So this concept became E-E-A-T.

What is Google EAT?

As explained in brief before we will now know a little more about EAT before knowing what things to do to optimize for it.

EEAT stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness.

Experience: Does content also demonstrate that it was produced with some degree of experience, such as with actual use of a product, having actually visited a place or communicating what a person experienced?

Expertise: This refers to the knowledge and experience of the content creator on the topic. Google looks for signs that the author is a legitimate expert in their field.

Authoritativeness: This refers to the reputation and recognition of the author and the website itself. Are they well-regarded sources in their field?

Trustworthiness: This refers to how reliable and trustworthy the content and the source are. Can users depend on the information being accurate and unbiased?

And Google gives lot more weightage to EAT when the topic in consideration is health, finance, legal matters or safety. All these YMYL topics(Your money, Your life). It is to ensure your finds trustworthy information.

Google EAT also uses humans to rate websites, so Google keeps an eye continuously to monitor pages to make sure users get the correct information.

How to optimize your WordPress site for Google EAT?

So as we know what EEAT is we can now look at how to optimize your website in accordance to the Google EAT.

  • Make sure you use HTTPS as it protects users data by encrypting it over the network, which also demonstrates your commitment to security and improves Trustworthiness of your Website.
  • Be transparent about your Website, the owners info, having a about us page is really good to have. If you are business then you should have a postal address and telephone number stated too.
    And use appropriate schema.org for Google to be able to understand your website more precisely.
  • Enable comments or reviews, and make sure to give prompt and professional responses as it helps Google know that people are engaging with your content.
  • Maintain Good User Experience, make sure your website has user-friendly content and is free of any technical issue like slow page speeds or any errors or unresponsive actions on your website.
  • If you are a blog owner use About me page, give information about your education your experience.
  • Show author of the posts, as some people, hide the author name, or they just use Admin as the author name, which makes it difficult for Google to identify the author.
  • Add author bio on every post or on Author pages, provide relevant experience, the authors qualification based on the topic the author writes. Link to their social accounts.
  • Make sure you publish the legal notices that are required in your country. For example, in the UK it is compulsory for business websites to have a privacy policy and for ecommerce sites to have a returns policy. In France you must identify the hosting company.
  • Make sure to link to external reference websites when you are presenting some data to back those numbers, and try to link to some high authority websites like Wikipedia.
  • Claim your business on Google My Business and yellow pages services.
  • If Google shows a Knowledge panel when you search for your name in Google make sure that you claim it
  • If your authors have published books, use the Book Schema to identify books and author names more clearly. At the very least add ISBN or links to pages where the book is listed using its ISBN (such as Amazon).
  • Make sure your website loads fast enough, such that user does not need to wait too long
